Technical Animator Overview

Join Red Kite Games, a leading developer specializing in AAA PC and console games, located in the heart of Leeds. We are currently seeking a Technical Animator to contribute to our diverse range of projects.

Responsibilities

• Create character rigs using mGear and Metahuman biped templates.
• Skin outfits in Maya, focusing on character costuming and topology, including secondary motion and physics in Unreal Engine.
• Rig props with mGear, ensuring simple controls for mechanical parts and pre-designed movements.
• Build initial basic skeletons for vehicles and occasionally create mGear animation rigs.
• Collaborate with the modeling team to establish skeletal positions and manage Nanite attached-meshes.
• Set up Metahuman head rig configurations, adjusting Radial Basis Functions and addressing any specific requirements related to scanning and character art.
• Establish pre-simulated clothing deformation by setting up nCloth simulation rigs that connect with animations and assets exported from cinematic sequences.

Requirements

• Proven experience in character, prop, and vehicle rigging using mGear.
• Familiarity with Metahuman biped templates and Radial Basis Functions; knowledge of custom build steps is a plus.
• Experience with skinning in Maya.
• Knowledge of nCloth and Houdini cloth simulation rigs.
• Proficiency in Python scripting and tools development is advantageous.
