Solutions Engineer – Sr. Overview

OpenTable is seeking a Senior Solutions Engineer to lead complex API integrations and technical engagements within our partner and restaurant ecosystem. This role is crucial for independently managing sophisticated implementations and establishing strong technical standards across Solutions Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Lead the execution of complex API integrations and technical projects from initial discovery through to implementation and launch.
• Independently manage intricate technical projects and partner implementations, setting clear milestones and expectations.
• Act as the primary technical consultant for sophisticated partners and restaurant groups, translating their business needs into actionable technical solutions.
• Diagnose and resolve complex API and integration issues by analyzing logs, API requests, and system behaviors.
• Identify and navigate ambiguous technical challenges, making informed decisions to drive resolutions.
• Proactively recognize technical risks and dependencies, collaborating with stakeholders to formulate mitigation strategies.
• Work closely with Product and Engineering teams to clarify project scopes and address technical challenges.
• Communicate any changes in delivery timelines, obstacles, and technical risks promptly and clearly.
• Serve as an escalation point for intricate technical issues and implementations.
• Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of the company’s APIs and technical ecosystem.
• Ensure that Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are met while managing multiple high-priority projects.
• Collaborate with Security teams to ensure compliance with security standards and identify potential risks.
• Connect technical decisions to business outcomes by working with Sales, Partnerships, Support, Product, and Engineering teams.
• Create scalable troubleshooting methods and technical guidelines to enhance consistency and quality.
• Partner with Engineering during complex incidents to drive resolutions and prevent future issues.
• Identify opportunities for product improvements based on technical patterns and partner feedback.

Requirements

• Significant experience in Solutions Engineering, Sales Engineering, Technical Consulting, Integration Engineering, or a similar customer-facing technical role.
• Extensive knowledge of REST APIs, JSON payloads, authentication methods, webhooks, and system integrations.
• Proven track record of leading complex technical implementations from discovery to production launch.
• Ability to manage complex initiatives and drive progress across multiple stakeholders.
• Strong problem-solving skills to navigate ambiguity and proactively identify risks and dependencies.
• Excellent communication skills to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
