Senior Product Director, Agentification, Skills and Data Overview

WPP is seeking a Senior Product Director for Agentification, Skills, and Data to lead the development of core skills and tools for its agents. This role is crucial in defining the capabilities of WPP’s agents and ensuring they are effectively integrated into the company’s applications.

Responsibilities

• Develop and oversee the vision, strategy, and roadmap for skills, tools, and agentification within WPP Open, ensuring it aligns with the overall business objectives.
• Define the essential skills that WPP’s agents will utilize, determining which skills are first-party, which can be user-composed, and which should not be included.
• Manage the tool layer to ensure that both WPP and third-party capabilities are accessible to agents through clearly defined interfaces, contracts, permissions, and connectivity standards like MCP.
• Lead the agentification process for WPP applications, collaborating with relevant teams to ensure their capabilities are callable, observable, and safe for agentic operation.
• Establish guardrails that dictate what actions an agent can perform, under whose authority, and with what data, in partnership with Agent Governance.
• Develop and implement evaluation and quality assurance processes for skills and chained agent outputs, ensuring capabilities are rigorously tested prior to release and monitored thereafter.
• Create a data and context strategy for agents, covering aspects such as retrieval, grounding, memory, context management, and access to WPP’s data and knowledge assets.
• Collaborate closely with Engineering, Design, UX, and Data teams to ensure a cohesive skills layer is delivered.
• Set clear objectives for teams and ensure alignment of plans and workstreams to meet these goals.
• Provide daily vision, direction, and motivation to a cross-functional product team, which includes product management, data analysts, engineers, and product enablement.
• Utilize data to inform product strategies and plans, continuously gathering feedback from stakeholders to enhance product adoption and usage.
• Act as the customer advocate by balancing platform priorities with the needs of agencies, operations teams, and clients, making complex technical areas understandable to senior stakeholders.

Requirements

• Significant experience in Product Management, Product Ownership, engineering leadership, or applied data science, particularly in AI or platform products.
• A proven history of transforming established SaaS or enterprise products into agent-native solutions.
• In-depth and up-to-date knowledge of agent architectures, including LLMs, tool and skill calling, retrieval design, context and memory management, and multi-agent orchestration.
• Hands-on experience with agent and tooling ecosystems such as MCP/A2A servers and clients, LangChain, or similar frameworks.
• Experience in defining safety controls, permissions, and guardrails for autonomous or semi-autonomous systems as part of the product.
• Familiarity with evaluating non-deterministic systems, including test sets, scoring rubrics, regression testing, and production monitoring.
• Understanding of APIs, system integrations, workflow orchestration, and data interoperability, with the ability to engage in technical discussions with senior engineers.
• Experience with data and knowledge platforms, including retrieval, embeddings, semantic search, and taxonomy management.
