Consultant Data Process & Automation Engineer Overview

We are seeking a skilled Data Process & Automation Engineer to join a prominent change and transformation consultancy located in Central London. This permanent position offers a salary of up to £60,000 and allows for a hybrid working arrangement.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze comprehensive business processes to identify inefficiencies and variations.
• Evaluate and prioritize opportunities for process automation.
• Design future processes that enhance efficiency while considering user experience and risk.
• Develop workflow solutions utilizing low-code, RPA, and AI technologies.
• Assist in the testing, deployment, and operational transition of automation solutions.
• Determine when Agentic AI provides significant advantages over traditional automation methods.
• Create human-in-the-loop workflows with necessary controls and escalation procedures.
• Assess AI use cases based on their feasibility, value, risk, and readiness for operation.
• Aid clients in establishing controls for monitoring models, ensuring compliance, and promoting responsible AI usage.
• Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and success metrics for process enhancements.
• Support the realization of benefits and ongoing optimization post-deployment.
• Facilitate workshops with stakeholders from business, operations, and technology.
• Contribute to proposals, client presentations, and thought leadership initiatives.

Essential Experience

• Minimum of three years’ experience in a client-facing role or consulting environment.
• Proven experience in analyzing and enhancing end-to-end business processes.
• Hands-on knowledge of workflow automation, low-code platforms, or RPA technologies.
• Familiarity with automation tools such as UiPath or Celonis.
• Strong skills in stakeholder management and facilitating workshops.
• Ability to convert business needs into effective automation solutions.
• Understanding of automation governance, risk management, and controls.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

Desirable Experience

• Experience with Microsoft Copilot Studio, Power Automate, or Azure AI.
• Knowledge of Agentic AI or AI-enabled workflow automation.
• Familiarity with API-based integrations and workflow orchestration.
• Experience with enterprise system connectivity.
• Understanding of human-in-the-loop workflow design.
• Knowledge of responsible AI and model-governance frameworks.
• A degree in computer science, data science, information systems, or a related field.
