This post describes the Mark as Final feature in Microsoft Excel and how you can mark the workbook as final in Excel.

Mark as Final in Microsoft Excel

Microsoft Excel allows the user to mark a workbook as final in Excel to indicate that this is the final version of the workbook. This feature only discourages editing but the users can still edit the workbook.

Here is an example of using the Mark as Final in Excel.

  • Open the workbook.

  • Click Protect Workbook -> Mark as Final.

  • Click OK.

Now when the user opens the file, it appears as below:
