Technology Risk Lead Overview

WPP is seeking a Technology Risk Lead to enhance its Enterprise Technology Risk function. This role involves leading technology risk management and governance initiatives, developing a team of risk subject matter experts, and implementing a modern, data-driven approach to risk management. The successful candidate will collaborate with various teams to ensure effective risk management across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development and maturity of WPP’s technology risk management framework and processes.
• Facilitate risk assessments, scenario analysis, and risk-based decision-making across Enterprise Technology.
• Maintain technology risk registers, manage issues, and track remediation efforts.
• Produce high-quality management reporting, dashboards, and risk insights for senior stakeholders.
• Drive continuous improvement through automation, workflow optimization, analytics, and AI technologies.
• Partner with Enterprise Security, Risk & Controls, Internal Audit, and Legal teams to enhance risk visibility and control effectiveness.
• Provide pragmatic challenge and guidance to risk and control owners.
• Develop WPP’s Data & Technology Controls framework and governance documents.
• Support strategic initiatives including transformation programs, mergers, acquisitions, and governance changes.
• Recruit, lead, coach, and develop a high-performing Technology Risk team across India and the UK.
• Establish effective operational rhythms, quality standards, and performance expectations for the function.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in Technology Risk, IT Risk, Cyber Risk, Technology Governance, Assurance, or IT Audit.
• Experience in large, complex, or multinational technology environments.
• Strong understanding of technology controls, ITGCs, cloud technologies, infrastructure, identity management, service management, and resilience.
• Demonstrable experience in developing risk reporting and leadership insights.
• Ability to simplify complex technical and risk-related topics for diverse audiences.
• Proven experience in leading and developing teams.
• Strong stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills.
• Experience in improving processes through automation, analytics, and AI-enabled approaches.
• Comfortable operating strategically while remaining hands-on when required.
