Join BAE Systems as a Summer Intern Software Engineer and become part of a dynamic team dedicated to developing advanced technology solutions in the defence, aerospace, and security sectors. This internship will take place at our Frimley location, with a start date of June 21, 2027, and will last for 12 weeks.
In this role, you will be involved in creating cutting-edge software, participating in the entire project lifecycle from concept to delivery. You will work primarily with programming languages such as Java, JavaScript, Angular, and React, while also having the opportunity to use C# and .NET.
Core Responsibilities
- Develop innovative software solutions for various platforms, participating in all stages of the project lifecycle including concept, design, and development.
- Create software for complex, real-time systems and safety-critical applications.
- Assist in the design, testing, and implementation of software components within a well-engineered system.
- Produce high-quality code as part of a collaborative development team, engaging in pair programming and conducting code reviews.
- Resolve development challenges to ensure timely delivery of quality code.
- Help clarify and refine project requirements and designs.
- Translate business designs into logical software designs for straightforward applications.
- Contribute to the creation of detailed design documents and specifications using established standards and methodologies.
Qualifications
- As a minimum requirement, candidates must have achieved or be on track to achieve at least a 2:2 in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science.
- Familiarity with programming languages such as Java, JavaScript, Angular, and React is essential, with additional knowledge of C# and .NET being beneficial.
