Staff Nurse Overview

Join our dedicated team at St John’s Residential & Nursing Home, a 39-bed facility that provides high-quality, person-centred residential and nursing care. We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Registered Nurse who is committed to delivering exceptional care and enhancing the lives of our residents. In this fulfilling role, you will assess, plan, deliver, and evaluate individualized care, supporting residents with their daily living needs while promoting dignity, independence, and wellbeing.

As a Band 5 Staff Nurse, you will have the opportunity to take on shift coordination responsibilities when necessary, mentor junior staff and students, and contribute to ongoing service improvement. We are looking for a nurse who can work both independently and collaboratively, demonstrating excellent communication skills and embodying our CARE values in all aspects of their work.

Main Duties

• Coordinate the management of the ward in the absence of a senior nurse, ensuring the highest standards of care are maintained.
• Assess, develop, implement, and evaluate care plans that reflect high standards of evidence-based care.
• Work autonomously, recognizing changes in patients’ or service users’ conditions that require intervention, and knowing when to escalate to senior staff.
• Guide, advise, and direct other staff in the delivery of care programs.
• Support patients and service users in performing activities of daily living as outlined in their care plans.
• Act as a health promoter and educator for patients and their support networks.
• Report all accidents and incidents according to policy and participate in risk management and quality assurance processes.
• Be accountable for ensuring safeguards are in place for patients and escalate any safety or safeguarding concerns as necessary.

Person Specification

• Essential: Registered Nurse with current UK professional registration.
• Experience or willingness to work towards the role of mentor, student nurse assessor, or supervisor.
