As a Summer Intern Material Scientist at BAE Systems, you will join a dynamic team in Great Baddow, contributing to innovative solutions in the fields of defence, aerospace, and security. Role Overview
In this position, you will be part of the Product Assurance Response Centre (PARC), where your main responsibilities will include preparing technical reports, test procedures, and process specifications. You will also provide troubleshooting and failure analysis services related to various components and production processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to address technical challenges.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including reports and specifications.
- Conduct troubleshooting and failure analysis for production and component issues.
- Utilize various test and analytical equipment to resolve problems efficiently.
- Apply knowledge of materials properties and testing methods, including polymers, metals, ceramics, and composites.
- Employ analytical techniques such as SEM/EDX, XRF, and tensile testing, with in-house training provided.
Qualifications
To be considered for this internship, you must have achieved, or be predicted to achieve, at least a 2:2 in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a STEM subject. Experience in a production, electronics, or quality environment is advantageous, along with familiarity with materials science.

Working Pattern
This role requires you to work on-site 3-5 days per week, allowing for a blend of in-person collaboration and flexible working.
