The Ticker Plant team at Bloomberg is focused on developing one of the most advanced real-time market data systems, which processes vast amounts of financial events daily. This platform serves as the core of Bloomberg’s market data infrastructure, providing essential data for global financial markets.

The Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team plays a crucial role in ensuring the success of the Ticker Plant by combining systems engineering with financial technology expertise. The team is dedicated to maintaining the system’s correctness, performance, and availability, ensuring that customers receive accurate and timely market data.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain high-quality production code for a sophisticated real-time market data system.
• Collaborate with component teams to design and integrate workflows and interfaces that ensure consistent functionality across the system.
• Analyze system behavior and assess the impact of changes before they are deployed to production.
• Create dashboards for monitoring system load and latency, and plan for the effects of anticipated changes.
• Ensure that new features introduced into production are supportable without increasing operational load.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in at least one object-oriented programming language such as C++, Python, or Java.
• A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Experience in system design and architecture, particularly in scaling fault-tolerant and distributed systems.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively with peers and management.
• Familiarity with Linux/Unix environments and a commitment to performance excellence.
