Systems Engineer – Sell Side Solutions Overview

Bloomberg is seeking a skilled Systems Engineer to join their Sell Side Solutions team in London. This role involves managing and administering the global trading hardware, network, systems, and data center infrastructure for Broadway. The successful candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting and resolving various issues within the trading environment, ensuring the security of trading infrastructure, and collaborating with various stakeholders to maintain network connectivity.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage the global trading hardware, network, systems, and data center infrastructure.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, operating system, network, and performance issues.
• Act as a systems administrator for production environments on Windows and Linux.
• Support global data center and colocation environments.
• Coordinate smart hands and remote hands activities across data centers.
• Maintain the security of trading infrastructure and implement security best practices.
• Configure and support multicast networks and low-latency trading network requirements.
• Build and manage the hardware, network, operating system, virtualization, cloud, and database layers.
• Manage Active Directory and identity-related services.
• Collaborate with customers, vendors, and internal teams for network connectivity.
• Create and maintain documentation for colocation environments and infrastructure standards.
• Manage infrastructure projects and day-to-day production issues.
• Enhance automation across infrastructure activities.
• Support infrastructure-as-code and configuration-as-code practices.
• Participate in change management and continuous improvement efforts.

Requirements

• Proficient in Windows and Linux administration, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
• Extensive experience in administering production servers.
• Strong problem-solving skills across hardware and networking.
• Experience in managing asset inventory and infrastructure documentation.
• Knowledge of network and system security best practices.
• Familiarity with IP routing and network segmentation.
• Experience with configuration management and automation tools.
• A degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
• At least four years of systems administration experience.
• Experience in low-latency infrastructure design and management.
• Experience managing network equipment.
• At least four years of scripting and automation experience.
• Experience with server provisioning and automated build pipelines.
• Experience maintaining accurate infrastructure inventory.
• Experience coordinating smart hands work with data centers.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
