We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer I specializing in Backend Java to join our London team in a hybrid working model, requiring two days in the office each week.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a crucial role in developing innovative solutions for our internal users, working on in-house applications and microservices that are essential to our operations. You will be part of an autonomous, cross-functional team that utilizes Agile methodologies, collaborating with design, product, engineering, and testing specialists to deliver high-quality solutions that meet the needs of millions of users and thousands of agents.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement new features and enhancements using Java 21+, Spring Boot, Elasticsearch, Kafka, Gradle, Hibernate, Couchbase, SQL, and Docker.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to develop solutions and prioritize tasks.
• Take ownership of significant technical decisions and manage projects from inception to completion.
• Balance the development of new features with the management of technical debt, making informed and practical trade-offs.
• Write secure, high-quality, and maintainable code that addresses both current and future requirements.
• Effectively communicate with stakeholders and external parties to ensure that solutions align with business goals.
• Advocate for new and emerging technologies that can enhance the value of the team’s work and align with the company’s strategic roadmap.
• Mentor junior engineers, fostering a culture of growth, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

• Extensive commercial experience with Java 21+, Spring Boot, and Kafka.
• Proven track record of successfully leading complex projects and coordinating efforts among multiple engineers.
• Strong collaborative skills, with an organized and solution-oriented mindset.
• In-depth knowledge of Test-Driven Development (TDD) practices and pipeline optimization, including left-shifting.
• Ability to balance technical priorities with business objectives through pragmatic decision-making.
• Passion for performance, scalability, and understanding user behavior.
• Proactive in introducing new ideas, technologies, and methodologies to enhance team performance.
• Commitment to knowledge sharing, fostering team ownership, and contributing to an inclusive and psychologically safe work environment.
