This position is part of our Platform Engineering team, which is responsible for delivering features and design work across the Ping platform. The team focuses on developing Ping’s identity solutions for AI offerings, ensuring the security and governance of AI agents. We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer who can transform ideas into production capabilities and thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative, and global environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver IAM capabilities across the Ping platform, covering all layers from infrastructure and databases to user interface experiences.
• Contribute to the design and implementation of APIs, models, workflows, orchestration surfaces, and services.
• Research and prototype solutions in emerging areas, collaborating with senior technical leaders and product teams to transform validated ideas into product features.
• Work closely with product management, UX, and engineering teams to refine features and designs, ensuring they are elegant, usable, and scalable for customers.
• Participate in the development lifecycle, including design, coding, testing, rollout, and production support.
• Utilize modern AI tools, such as Claude Code, in daily engineering tasks to enhance research, code comprehension, prototyping, implementation, and documentation while maintaining strong engineering judgment.
• Communicate effectively, share knowledge, and support fellow engineers through design discussions, code reviews, and project delivery.
• Adapt to a rapidly changing environment, responding to evolving customer needs, technology trends, and new working methodologies.

Qualifications:

• Proven ability to design, build, test, and operate production services using technologies such as Java, JavaScript, Google Cloud, Docker, and Kubernetes, with a willingness to expand expertise.
• Experience in utilizing AI engineering tools to enhance research, code understanding, prototyping, implementation, and documentation while applying sound engineering principles.
• Demonstrated experience in building production services, distributed systems, or shared platform capabilities.
• Experience in designing and implementing APIs, RESTful services, integration contracts, and data or domain models.
• Ability to translate requirements and ambiguous problems into designs, prototypes, and production-ready solutions.
• Familiarity with authentication, authorization, and identity management.
• Strong communication skills to convey technical decisions clearly, collaborate across teams and time zones, and provide feedback and knowledge sharing to other engineers.

Bonus Points:

• Experience with OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, token exchange, policy systems, delegated administration, or identity data modeling.
• Experience with AI agent identity and non-human identity.
• Familiarity with MCP, agent skills, and other agent integration concepts.
• Experience working across multiple codebases, teams, or product areas to ship cohesive outcomes.
• Experience with distributed systems at scale.
• Experience working as part of an international team.
• Experience contributing to technical designs and proof of concept work.
