In the role of Practice Lead for Future Systems Engineering, you will combine your engineering expertise with commercial insight to guide the direction of Softwire’s services. This position is crucial for ensuring that our offerings remain relevant and impactful for our clients across various sectors, including energy, financial services, and government.
Key Responsibilities
- Articulate and develop the Future Systems Engineering service to ensure its ongoing relevance and effectiveness.
- Support business development teams in promoting Future Systems Engineering services across targeted sectors.
- Monitor technology trends, vendor activities, and regulatory changes to inform service offerings.
- Create innovative approaches and commercial propositions for new engagements.
- Lead the systems engineering Community of Practice to enhance knowledge sharing and technical standards.
- Manage a team of technical consultants to drive practice development and tactical engagements.
- Engage in client work, including discovery sessions and architecture reviews, to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Build strong relationships with senior client stakeholders to identify additional value opportunities.
- Mentor colleagues in technical and consultancy skills.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in technical roles, with at least 4 years in a consultancy or agency context.
- Experience in designing and delivering large-scale systems, with a strong grasp of non-functional requirements.
- Fluency in modern cloud architecture and the ability to communicate its benefits to clients.
- Understanding of AI’s impact on engineering practices.
- Strong commercial acumen and the ability to connect engineering decisions to business outcomes.
- Ability to navigate ambiguous situations and distill complex stakeholder needs into actionable solutions.
- Excellent consulting skills, capable of engaging with C-suite executives.
- Experience in pre-sales activities and a desire to develop this skill further.
- A desire to build a public profile in systems engineering.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and a collaborative approach.
Compensation and Benefits
- Base salary between £110,400 and £124,200, based on experience.
- Average profit share of £19,000 to £25,250, depending on performance.
- 5% additional pension contribution.
