We are seeking an NPI Engineer to join a specialist electronics manufacturer located in County Durham, England. This role focuses on the introduction of innovative RF and electronics products into high-performance manufacturing, ensuring a seamless transition from prototype to scalable production.

Role Overview

The NPI Engineer will be responsible for managing the production process of RF and microwave assemblies. This includes overseeing the transition from early builds to volume manufacturing, ensuring that processes are practical, controlled, and scalable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the transition of RF and microwave assemblies from prototype builds to full-scale production.
  • Plan and oversee pilot builds, addressing any issues that arise during the process.
  • Collaborate with design engineers to enhance manufacturability through Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles.
  • Establish production processes, including the development of tooling and work instructions.
  • Create and implement process flows, control plans, and necessary documentation.
  • Support production ramp-up and focus on improving yield and efficiency.
  • Conduct root cause analysis using methodologies such as 8D, DMAIC, and FMEA.

Essential Experience

  • Proven experience as an NPI Engineer or in a similar role within a manufacturing environment.
  • A background in electronics or a high-reliability sector.
  • Experience in transitioning products from development to production.
  • Strong understanding of process control and manufacturing readiness.
  • Ability to work effectively with design, quality, and production teams.
  • An engineering qualification or equivalent hands-on experience in a relevant field.
