Community CAMHS Consultant Psychiatrist – South Kent Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Community CAMHS Consultant Psychiatrist to join the South Kent Community CAMHS team, which provides essential mental health services to children and young people under 18 in Dover and Folkestone. The team addresses a variety of mental health disorders, including ADHD, ASD, mood disorders, psychosis, PTSD, anxiety disorders, emerging personality disorders, and challenging behaviors.

Main Responsibilities

• Act as an autonomous, registered practitioner accountable for your actions, adhering to professional codes and Trust guidelines.
• Maintain full registration with a license to practice from the GMC.
• Enhance your professional knowledge through accredited courses and in-house training.
• Be responsible for delivering high-quality service to clients and patients.
• Assess and develop care plans for patients with complex needs, recognizing your limitations and seeking advice when necessary.
• Initiate referrals to other health professionals and agencies as required.
• Provide patients and their families with information to support informed choices that promote dignity and quality of life.
• Ensure that your practice is supported by research and evidence-based methodologies.

Qualifications and Experience

• MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
• Full registration with the GMC and a license to practice.
• On the GMC Specialist Register or within six months of completing CCT in psychiatry.
• Approved Clinician status or ability to achieve it within three months of appointment.
• Approved under S12 or able to achieve this within three months of appointment.
• Excellent knowledge and clinical skills in the specialty.
• Strong oral and written communication skills in English.
• Experience managing a broad range of mental disorders in children.
• Experience working with diverse cultural backgrounds.

This position is full-time and offers a competitive salary ranging from £113,565 to £150,569 per annum. Applications from individuals requiring Skilled Worker sponsorship are encouraged and will be considered alongside all other applications.
