About the Audit Team

In the Audit department, you will engage in client work and gradually take on more responsibilities as you gain experience. With over 6,000 professionals across the UK, you will collaborate with a diverse team that brings a wealth of expertise. The Audit teams specialize in various areas, including Pension Audit, Public Sector, Not-for-Profit, Financial Services, and Technology Risk Assurance, allowing you to gain insights into different organizational operations.

Programme Overview

Throughout your placement year, you will acquire hands-on audit experience, working closely with clients and colleagues. You will enhance your technical, commercial, and relationship-building skills. During your time at BDO, you will have the opportunity to:

• Take three professional exams.
• Log six months of practical work experience with the relevant Professional Body.
• Return to BDO for the Graduate Programme, completing your remaining exams and training in 2.5 years, qualifying approximately six months earlier due to your placement experience.

You will also work alongside experienced colleagues and senior leaders, contributing to client projects and taking on more responsibilities as your confidence grows. Previous placement students have reported feeling trusted early on and having their ideas valued, with opportunities to work directly with partners.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for individuals who are curious, resilient, and eager to embrace new challenges. You should enjoy problem-solving and applying your academic knowledge in practical situations. While prior knowledge is not required, a positive attitude and willingness to engage will help you thrive in this role.

Application Process

To apply, you must meet the following criteria:

• Be a second-year student in a four-year undergraduate degree program seeking a third-year work placement.
• Be on track for a minimum 2:2 degree in any discipline.
• Possess three A-levels at grades A*-C or equivalent, or four Scottish Advanced Highers at grades A-B.
• Have GCSEs at grades 4 and above in Maths and English, or Scottish National 5 grades A-C.
• Have the right to work in the UK.

The interview process includes an online application form, online assessments, a video interview, and a virtual assessment center. We ensure that every application is reviewed by a real person, as we do not utilize AI in our candidate screening process.
