We are excited to announce a vacancy for Urgent Care Practitioners at Derbyshire Community Health Services NHSFT. This position offers varying hours and requires candidates to have a professional registration with either the NMC or HCPC. The successful applicant will be responsible for conducting autonomous assessments and examinations, documenting findings, and adhering to clinical guidelines while treating patients under the supervision of senior clinicians.

The Urgent Care Practitioner will engage in Shift Lead duties on a regular basis to ensure that patients receive care from the appropriate personnel in a timely manner. You will be expected to seek clinical expertise for judgment and decision-making in providing care to adults and children with undifferentiated diagnoses of minor injuries and illnesses within a Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) setting.

Main Responsibilities

  • Conduct assessments and examinations of patients, documenting findings and following clinical guidelines.
  • Provide treatment for patients with minor injuries and illnesses, seeking clinical expertise when necessary.
  • Engage in Shift Lead duties regularly to ensure appropriate patient care.
  • Commit to a capability framework and adhere to ‘The DCHS Way’ in all professional conduct.

Qualifications

  • Essential: Professional registration with NMC or HCPC.
  • Essential: Qualification in minor injuries or minor illness management or equivalent experience.
  • Essential: Level 6 module in Physical Examination and Clinical Reasoning or willingness to commence the course within 12 months.
  • Desirable: Teaching qualification and paediatrics training.

Experience

  • Essential: Over 2 years of post-registration experience in an acute or urgent care environment.
  • Essential: Contemporary clinical experience and commitment to a capability framework.
  • Desirable: Practical understanding of primary care and community services.

Skills and Attributes

  • Essential: Willingness and ability to work flexibly across UTC sites.
  • Essential: Ability to work as a Shift Lead.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary ranging from £39,959 to £48,117 per annum, pro rata.
  • Permanent contract with options for full-time or part-time working patterns.
