Join Sony Interactive Entertainment as a Senior Software Engineer focused on Audio Validation Systems, where you will contribute to the PlayStation SDK. This role is integral to the SDK Quality Engineering team, which is part of the Foundational Systems and Experiences Engineering group based in London. You will be responsible for developing tools and automated systems that validate audio technologies, ensuring high-quality audio experiences for players.

Role Overview

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will design and build audio analysis tools, automated validation pipelines, and regression detection systems. Your work will involve close collaboration with Audio SDK engineers and platform teams to address complex audio quality challenges and create measurable, repeatable engineering systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain audio validation tools for PlayStation SDK audio libraries and technologies.
• Write code in C/C++ and Python to analyze audio output, detect regressions, compare SDK versions, and validate expected audio behavior.
• Create automated systems for consistent audio quality measurement, including signal analysis, spectral comparison, latency checks, conformance checks, and regression detection.
• Develop tools that provide engineers with clear evidence of changes in audio behavior.
• Collaborate with Audio SDK engineers to understand features, risks, expected behavior, and testing requirements.
• Integrate audio validation processes into continuous integration (CI), build pipelines, reporting systems, dashboards, and release workflows.
• Investigate complex audio issues through debugging, data analysis, signal processing, and collaboration with domain experts.
• Take ownership of technical areas from requirements and design through implementation, documentation, maintenance, and support.
• Establish standards for creating maintainable, reproducible, and reliable audio validation tools.
• Mentor fellow engineers and share knowledge across SDK Quality Engineering and Audio SDK teams.

Essential Requirements

• Proven professional experience in software engineering.
• Strong programming skills in C/C++.
• Proficient in Python programming.
• Solid understanding of digital audio fundamentals, including PCM audio, sample rates, channels, latency, dynamic range, filtering, resampling, encoding, and frequency-domain analysis.
• Experience in building tools, automation, analysis systems, SDK components, test infrastructure, or developer-facing systems.
• Excellent debugging skills across code, data, tooling, environments, and pipelines.
• Ability to transform ambiguous technical challenges into robust, maintainable software solutions.
• Familiarity with source control, code review processes, CI, and collaborative engineering practices.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly in conveying technical findings to engineers from various specializations.
• A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Audio Technology, Mathematics, Physics, or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with audio analysis, signal processing, or automated media validation.
• Experience validating libraries, APIs, command-line tools, SDKs, runtime systems, or platform-level software.
• Experience with automated regression detection and quality measurement.
• Experience working with CI systems such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Buildkite, TeamCity, or similar.
• Experience with test frameworks such as GTest, CppUnit, PyTest, or similar.
