The Principal Software Engineer position is a key role within the Technology & Solutions team, responsible for guiding the technical direction of various products and services. This position requires a blend of deep engineering expertise and leadership skills to foster a culture of innovation and excellence.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the technical direction for a range of products and delivery teams within the Technology & Solutions sector.
• Lead by example through active technical contributions and addressing critical engineering challenges.
• Establish and maintain engineering standards, coding practices, quality gates, and governance frameworks to ensure effective AI-native software delivery.
• Promote engineering excellence throughout the software delivery lifecycle, focusing on secure development, comprehensive observability, modern testing, and resilient deployment strategies.
• Ensure that solutions meet enterprise-grade standards, incorporating security, performance, resilience, scalability, and operational readiness from the design phase to production.
• Represent the engineering team in portfolio intake and triage discussions.
• Collaborate with solution architects to align solutions with broader architectural standards.
• Promote and implement AI-native, specification-driven development practices across engineering teams.
• Establish standards and frameworks for AI-augmented development throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Encourage the use of AI coding assistants like GitHub Copilot and Claude Code as essential development tools.
• Drive innovation through proof-of-concept projects and assess emerging AI engineering tools and platforms.
• Demonstrate measurable improvements in delivery speed, quality, or efficiency through the adoption of AI based on real-world use cases.
• Mentor and develop engineering teams, fostering a culture of excellence, learning, and AI integration.
• Encourage collaboration among teams to enhance knowledge sharing and break down silos.

Requirements

• Proven software engineering experience with a clear progression to senior technical roles.
• Extensive full-stack development skills, including backend technologies like .NET Core and C#, and frontend frameworks such as Angular or React.
• Demonstrated experience in delivering enterprise-scale cloud solutions using Microsoft Azure.
• A strong background in managing and coaching engineering teams, with at least 3 years in Tech Lead positions.
• Experience in AI-native software delivery and specification-driven development, including the use of AI-assisted engineering tools and automated quality assurance.
• Familiarity with microservices architecture, distributed systems, and RESTful API development.
• Proficient in Git, GitHub, and modern CI/CD practices, including automated testing and deployment pipelines.
• Hands-on experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and DevOps practices.
• Strong skills in database design and development across both relational and NoSQL platforms.
• Ability to balance technical execution with team management and product accountability.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to address complex technical issues.
• Strong decision-making abilities to evaluate trade-offs and make informed choices under pressure.
