LADbible Group is seeking a News Editor for SPORTbible to lead the editorial team in shaping the daily sports news agenda. This position is crucial for driving the next phase of editorial growth, focusing on delivering distinctive and engaging content that resonates with sports fans.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily sports news agenda across various sports including football, F1, boxing, MMA, golf, and tennis.
- Commission, edit, and publish journalism that is accurate, engaging, and legally compliant.
- Identify unique angles on breaking news stories to provide deeper insights.
- Develop content strategies for multiple platforms such as web, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, WhatsApp, and Search.
- Collaborate with social media editors to create compelling content that attracts clicks and retains audience interest.
- Utilize audience data to refine content commissioning and avoid outdated traffic strategies.
- Mentor and guide journalists through the editing process, providing constructive feedback and fostering open discussions about story ideas.
Qualifications
- A minimum of five years of experience in a newsroom or digital publishing environment, with a focus on editing or commissioning.
- Strong sports news judgment and in-depth knowledge of football.
- Demonstrated ability to find original angles on significant news stories.
- Exceptional skills in headline writing and digital content presentation.
- Proficient in using social media platforms, Search, and Discover functionalities.
- Familiarity with analytics tools such as Google Analytics, Chartbeat, and NewsWhip.
- A solid understanding of media law, sourcing, and verification processes.
