LADbible Group is seeking a News Editor for SPORTbible to spearhead the next phase of our editorial development. Reporting directly to the Brand Editor, this position will be pivotal in shaping our daily sports coverage across both web and social media platforms. The role demands a hands-on approach to not only cover significant sports stories but also to enhance them with unique insights and details that resonate with our audience.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the daily sports news agenda across various sports including football, F1, boxing, MMA, golf, and tennis.
• Commission, edit, and publish journalism that is accurate, engaging, and legally sound.
• Identify unique angles on breaking news stories that others may overlook.
• Develop content strategies that encompass multiple platforms such as web, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, WhatsApp, and Search.
• Collaborate with social media editors to create compelling content that drives engagement.
• Utilize audience data to refine commissioning processes and avoid chasing outdated traffic.
• Mentor and coach journalists through the editing process, providing constructive feedback and fostering open discussions about ideas.

Qualifications

• A minimum of five years of experience in a newsroom or digital publishing environment, with a focus on editing or commissioning.
• Strong sports news judgment, particularly in football.
• Demonstrated ability to identify original angles on major stories.
• Exceptional skills in headline writing and digital content packaging.
• Proficiency across various social media platforms and familiarity with Search and Discover.
• Comfortable using analytical tools such as Google Analytics, Chartbeat, and NewsWhip.
• A solid understanding of media law, sourcing, and verification processes.
