Consultant in Nephrology Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Nephrology Team at Croydon University Hospital. This position is for a full-time substantive appointment, although applications for part-time roles will also be considered. The successful candidate will collaborate with existing consultants to enhance the nephrology service, particularly in delivering high-quality care and developing a sub-specialty to improve local renal services.

Main Responsibilities

• Work alongside current consultants to develop and improve the nephrology service.
• Support fellow consultants in providing high-quality patient care.
• Explore opportunities to develop a sub-specialty within nephrology.

Qualifications and Experience

• Essential: MB BS or equivalent qualification.
• Essential: Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) or equivalent.
• Essential: Inclusion in the specialist register for Nephrology and General (Internal) Medicine, or eligibility for CESR application.
• Essential: Full registration with the GMC.
• Essential: Minimum of two years’ substantive NHS experience at SPR level or equivalent.
• Desirable: Higher degree (MD, PhD or equivalent).

Skills and Competencies

• Essential: Experience in the daily organization of hospital services.
• Essential: Demonstrated leadership capability within multi-disciplinary teams.
• Essential: Understanding of clinical governance principles.
• Essential: Thorough understanding of medical audit principles and completion of audit projects.
• Essential: Experience in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students.
