Amazon Launches Alexa Conversations & Alexa for Apps for Developers

Amazon had recently launched Alexa Conversations (beta) as a part of the Alexa Skills Kit(ASK) which lets the developers to create more natural Alexa skills with fewer lines of code. Additionally , Amazon is also conducting a contest in collaboration with DevPost with an opportunity to invent the future of voice experiences and compete for more than $100K in prize

Along with the above announcements , Amazon has also announced Alexa for Apps which allows the Alexa users to interact with their mobile device using Alexa.

What is Alexa Conversations?

This is what Amazon says

Alexa Conversations is a new AI-driven approach to dialog management that enables you to create skills that customers can interact with in a natural, less constrained way – using the phrases they prefer, in the order they prefer – while freeing you to focus on the highest value parts of your experience. The Alexa Conversations feature is available in the en_US locale”

Creating and defining a skill with Alexa Conversations by Developers includes the following steps

  1. Write Dialogs
  2. Create Utterance Sets for Alexa Conversations
  3. Define Responses from Alexa for Alexa Conversations

Alexa Conversations is still in beta and is available to the Alexa developers via the Alexa Developer Console. Alexa for APps though is still in preview and developers interested in trying out can request the early access by Applying for Developer Preview at Alexa for Apps Portal.
