Undergraduate Maintenance Overview

As an Undergraduate in the Maintenance department at BAE Systems, you will engage in a 12-month placement starting in June 2027, based at our Warton/Samlesbury locations in Lancashire. This role is designed for individuals who are pursuing a career in airworthiness management, where you will play a crucial part in ensuring the safety and operational efficiency of military aircraft.

Your responsibilities will include working within a Continuing Airworthiness Management Organisation, where you will provide essential services that support the air safety of various aircraft platforms. You will have the opportunity to interact with aircraft maintenance organizations and supply chain teams, gaining hands-on experience in several key areas such as Fleet Management, Maintenance Planning, and Technical Information Management.

Core Duties

• Collate and present aircraft status information.
• Monitor the performance of aircraft operations.
• Plan and communicate management strategies for aircraft and component maintenance.
• Conduct performance studies on aircraft and components as required.
• Review and assess current operational methods for potential improvements, particularly with the integration of emerging technologies.
• Actively participate in team discussions, contributing both technical insights and behavioral perspectives.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must be on track to achieve a minimum of a 2:2 Bachelor’s degree or a pass at Master’s level in Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics. Additionally, all applicants must meet the Baseline Personnel Security Standard, and many roles will require higher levels of National Security Vetting, necessitating a minimum of 5 to 10 years of continuous residency in the UK.
