As a Staff Software Engineer in the Dev Environments team at Deliveroo, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the developer experience across the DoorDash group, which includes over 5000 engineers. Your primary focus will be on improving engineering velocity, quality, and efficiency by streamlining the developer workflow, whether for human developers or AI agents.

Key Responsibilities

• Define the architecture for local and remote development environments for thousands of engineers across DoorDash, Wolt, and Deliveroo.
• Build scalable monorepo development tools as part of consolidating multiple companies under DoorDash’s global backend.
• Provision production-like environments quickly, ensuring synchronization over the network and creating a seamless experience for remote users.
• Design environments that cater to AI agents as primary users, allowing for on-demand sandbox creation and safe repository handling.
• Collaborate with various teams, including Security, Infrastructure, and Product Engineering, to address complex, ambiguous problems without existing solutions.
• Mentor engineers at different levels, conduct design reviews, and enhance engineering standards through code reviews and architectural guidance.
• Lead interview processes, assist in calibrating hiring standards, and support the onboarding of senior engineers.

Requirements

• Proven experience in delivering production systems and leading initiatives that have a significant impact across teams.
• Hands-on proficiency with programming languages and tools used for developer tooling, such as Go, Python, and TypeScript.
• Experience managing compute resources using Kubernetes or similar technologies for workload isolation and cost management.
• Familiarity with cloud networking principles, including secure traffic routing across networks.
• Experience integrating AI tools into developer workflows, both locally and remotely.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and align diverse teams.
• Ability to build strong relationships with engineering teams that utilize your platform.
