We are seeking to enhance our clinical team for Dermatology services at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Trust by hiring a Specialty Doctor in Dermatology. The ideal candidate will have relevant experience and a strong interest in dermatology. Our Dermatology service has undergone significant changes in the past year, and we are looking for a highly motivated individual eager to contribute to our ongoing development and success.
The Dermatology team offers a wide range of clinical services, including the diagnosis and treatment of skin cancer and the management of various inflammatory skin conditions in both adults and children. The medical team is supported by a skilled group of dermatology nurses and collaborates with local community services. The new appointee will not only contribute to these services but will also have the opportunity to develop special interests and enhance their educational and training skills.
As part of this role, you will manage your own clinical workload, which includes treating patients with dermatological conditions, performing minor operations, and participating in multidisciplinary team meetings. You will also play a crucial role in service development and staff education as we strive to expand our offerings and achieve recognition as a tertiary specialist center.
We operate from three main hospitals: Furness General Hospital in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary, and Westmorland General Hospital in Kendal, along with various community healthcare facilities. Our aim is to provide high-quality care that helps individuals maintain their independence and manage their health effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide a comprehensive range of clinical services in dermatology, including the diagnosis and treatment of skin cancer.
- Manage a variety of inflammatory skin conditions in both adult and pediatric patients.
- Oversee a personal clinical workload, addressing all types of dermatological conditions for two-week wait patients, new and follow-up cases, and ward referrals.
- Perform minor surgical procedures as required.
- Participate actively in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings.
- Contribute to service development and the growth of dermatology services within the Trust.
- Engage in educational and training activities for staff and contribute to the professional development of the team.
- Collaborate with local medical schools for academic partnerships.
Requirements:
- Possess MRCP or an equivalent higher diploma.
- Hold current UK professional registration.
- Demonstrate appropriate experience and a keen interest in dermatology.
- Be motivated and open to change, growth, and development within the specialty.
