The Engineering team at Cloudflare is responsible for a software platform that handles tens of millions of HTTP requests per second. We also develop tools that enable our colleagues to quickly deliver products to market and manage software updates across over 200 data centers worldwide.

The CDN Configuration team plays a crucial role in managing the configuration ecosystem across our edge platform. Our mission is to provide a coherent, safe, and high-performing experience that allows customers to confidently modify their traffic routing. We empower users to build and customize their virtual networks by rapidly generating settings and deploying updates globally.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with a team of skilled software engineers to create robust mechanisms that provide users with complete governance and safety over their network settings.
• Architect services that allow users to prototype, execute, evaluate, and discard customized traffic rules, ensuring they meet operational requirements.
• Interface directly with distributed edge platforms and work alongside cross-functional teams to enhance and secure the global infrastructure.
• Drive technical alignment between core application deployment and infrastructure operations, collaborating with engineering peers across the organization.

Requirements

• Strong foundation in practical computer science, including the application of algorithms, data structures, and concurrency control systems in software design.
• Experience in safely operating production systems, including deployment, rollout, rollback, and observability.
• Ability to foster communication and consensus among teams.
• Commitment to continuous improvement in both operations and product development.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with programming languages such as Rust and Go.
• Knowledge of web servers and web protocols.
• Experience with distributed systems and configuration management.
• Understanding of web security issues and industry standards.
