As a Software Development Engineer III, you will be part of the Expedia Product & Technology team, which focuses on creating innovative products and services that improve customer experiences. Your role will involve working on the pricing platform, ensuring that customers receive a transparent and accurate pricing experience throughout their travel journey.

Key Responsibilities

• Take ownership of mission-critical services from technical design through to implementation and ongoing operations for high-throughput, low-latency distributed pricing services on a global scale.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand how your technology stack impacts business outcomes and overall profitability.
• Analyze complex issues, break them down into manageable tasks, and work collaboratively to deliver sustainable technical solutions.
• Engage in architecture reviews, produce comprehensive technical documentation, and perform detailed code reviews.
• Test and maintain software applications using a variety of development tools while adhering to customer design requirements.
• Research and suggest frameworks and architectural patterns, identifying areas for code improvement and proposing solutions.
• Promote operational excellence by advocating for practices such as unit testing, establishing service level agreements (SLAs), and designing for resilience and scalability.
• Mentor team members, sharing knowledge to foster a culture of continuous technical growth and collaboration across teams.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience (5+ years in software development), or a Master’s degree with at least 4 years of post-degree experience.
• Proven experience in software development using Java or similar object-oriented programming languages, or Scala/Kotlin or similar functional languages.
• Demonstrated ability to build and manage scalable distributed systems and services within AWS or similar cloud infrastructures.
• Experience mentoring at least three individuals and leading technical design for a minimum of three projects.
• Ability to identify business challenges at both project and team levels and design easily testable and observable solutions.
• Understanding of relational and NoSQL databases, data structures, API patterns, and service-oriented architectures.
• Experience in establishing operational excellence metrics and advocating for project quality through testing, monitoring, and alerting.
• Strong knowledge of caching solutions and experience with technologies such as Redis, Couchbase, or Memcached.
• Experience working in Agile development teams with at least five engineers, familiar with modern Agile methodologies and CI/CD practices.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to thrive in a globally distributed team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with low-latency and high-throughput processing microservices.
• Proficiency in integrating AI/ML-enabled solutions within backend systems.
