As a Senior Software Engineer in the Cross-Asset Trading System (CATS) team, you will be instrumental in developing a robust platform that supports Bloomberg’s trading applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead critical projects that influence the future of trading technology across more than 15 trading applications and over 50,000 high-value clients.
- Collaborate with product managers and engineering teams throughout Bloomberg to enhance the platform and gain insights into the trading ecosystem.
- Contribute to the software architecture and strategic direction of CATS and the associated trading systems.
- Design and develop reusable, business-agnostic software that meets the performance demands of trading workflows.
- Write high-quality code for both frontend and backend systems, addressing complex challenges such as state management and data subscription pipelines.
- Participate in collaborative efforts including pair programming and team-based project work, while also engaging in training and community activities.
- Mentor junior engineers and promote knowledge sharing to foster team growth and development.
Requirements
- A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in software engineering.
- Proficiency in modern programming languages, with a strong desire to become an expert in JavaScript and TypeScript.
- A solid understanding of software engineering principles, particularly regarding the quality and accuracy of work.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to convey technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.
- A proactive attitude towards learning and understanding existing systems, with a willingness to share knowledge.
- Experience in developing platforms, APIs, or plugin architectures is preferred.
- Familiarity with Redux or React is advantageous.
- Experience in leading large projects involving multiple stakeholders and troubleshooting production issues is a plus.
