Senior Software Engineer Overview

This position is part of our Platform Engineering team, which focuses on delivering features and design work across the Ping platform. The team is currently engaged in developing Ping’s identity solutions for AI, aimed at securing and governing AI agents. We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer who excels in transforming ideas into production capabilities and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative, cross-functional, and global environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver IAM capabilities across the Ping platform, covering the entire stack from infrastructure to UI experiences.
• Contribute to the design and implementation of APIs, models, workflows, orchestration surfaces, and services.
• Research and prototype solutions in emerging areas, collaborating with senior technical leaders and product teams to turn validated ideas into product features.
• Work closely with product management, UX, and engineering teams to refine features and designs for optimal customer outcomes.
• Engage in the development life cycle, including design, coding, testing, rollout, and production support.
• Utilize modern AI tooling in daily engineering tasks to enhance research, code understanding, prototyping, implementation, and documentation.
• Communicate effectively, share knowledge, and support fellow engineers through design discussions, code reviews, and project delivery.
• Adapt to a rapidly changing environment, responding to evolving customer needs and technology trends.

Qualifications:

• Ability to design, build, test, and operate production services using technologies such as Java, JavaScript, Google Cloud, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Experience with AI engineering tools to enhance research and implementation processes.
• Proven experience in building production services, distributed systems, or shared platform capabilities.
• Experience in designing and implementing APIs, RESTful services, and data models.
• Ability to translate requirements into designs and production-ready solutions.
• Familiarity with authentication, authorization, and identity management.
• Strong communication skills for collaboration across teams and time zones.

Bonus Points:

• Experience with OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, and identity data modeling.
• Familiarity with AI agent identity and non-human identity concepts.
• Experience working across multiple codebases and teams.
• Experience with distributed systems at scale.
• Experience in contributing to technical designs and proof of concept work.
