As a Senior Data Center Technician for Third Party Data Centers at Google, you will play a crucial role in managing and maintaining the physical infrastructure that supports Google’s advanced technology. Your responsibilities will include deploying and operating new data center infrastructure, troubleshooting and diagnosing equipment issues, and ensuring data security and integrity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deploy and manage new data center infrastructure across various teams.
  • Identify and report issues, following established procedures to troubleshoot and diagnose equipment or infrastructure problems as they arise.
  • Ensure the security and integrity of data, monitoring various media forms for non-standard data security issues in compliance with Google security standards.
  • Disassemble equipment that has reached its end-of-life, performing part replacements or maintenance across multiple teams.
  • Conduct repairs, fixes, and preventative maintenance on servers, machines, or infrastructure based on identified issues and available solutions.

Requirements

  • Experience in assembling mechanical or electrical systems, along with performing component-level repairs and troubleshooting on technical equipment.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and troubleshooting operating systems, computer hardware, and server hardware.
  • Familiarity with networking protocols.
  • Physical capability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds (23 kg) and to perform physically demanding tasks over extended periods, including frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, pushing/pulling, and lifting.
  • Willingness to work non-standard hours, including weekends, night shifts, holidays, and shift-based schedules as necessary.
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • Preferred: At least 4 years of experience in maintaining and monitoring server systems.
  • Preferred: Experience in component-level repairs and troubleshooting on IT equipment or in similar roles such as systems administration, network deployment engineer, or help desk technician.
  • Preferred: Experience working in a data center or network operation center environment.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with Linux operating systems.
  • Preferred: Background in project management, leadership, and collaboration with teams.

This position is onsite and not eligible for visa sponsorship.
