Bloomberg is seeking a Senior AI Risk Technical Advisory Lead to join their Chief Risk Office in London. This role is pivotal in ensuring that AI innovation is pursued responsibly across the organization. As AI technology becomes increasingly integrated into Bloomberg’s offerings, the Chief Risk Office is focused on developing advisory capabilities that assist technical and product teams in identifying, assessing, mitigating, and monitoring AI-related risks throughout their lifecycle.
The Senior AI Risk Technical Advisory Lead will act as a senior subject matter expert on AI risk and responsible AI, collaborating closely with various stakeholders including engineering, product, data science, legal, compliance, and risk teams. This position is designed for a seasoned professional who can effectively bridge the gap between technical AI implementation and enterprise risk oversight.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide senior-level technical advisory support for AI and generative AI use cases across Bloomberg’s products and platforms.
- Evaluate AI risks related to bias, explainability, hallucination, robustness, model drift, data leakage, privacy, security, intellectual property, misuse, transparency, and human oversight.
- Advise teams on appropriate controls, testing, monitoring, documentation, and risk mitigation strategies tailored to specific use cases and regulatory requirements.
- Review complex or high-risk AI use cases and present risk-based recommendations to governance forums and senior stakeholders.
- Help establish practical technical standards for responsible AI development, testing, validation, deployment, monitoring, and retirement.
- Collaborate with the Head of AI Risk Management to enhance Bloomberg’s AI risk management framework, including risk classification, assessment methodologies, and monitoring standards.
- Translate external regulatory frameworks into actionable internal control guidance for technical and product teams.
- Develop reusable advisory materials, playbooks, review criteria, technical checklists, and model documentation expectations.
- Support the creation of risk indicators and monitoring strategies for AI systems, focusing on performance, drift, bias, security, and user feedback.
- Engage with cross-functional teams including Technology, Product, Data, Legal, Compliance, CISO, Privacy, and Procurement to address emerging AI risks.
- Facilitate discussions on technical risks and resolve conflicts between product goals, engineering constraints, legal obligations, and risk appetite.
- Act as a senior escalation point for complex AI risk inquiries and responsible AI issues.
- Support AI risk governance forums, executive updates, regulatory inquiries, and internal reviews.
- Serve as a trusted internal expert on responsible AI, technical AI risk, and AI control design.
- Create and deliver training and awareness materials for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Monitor advancements in AI technology, regulation, industry standards, and emerging risk practices, translating them into actionable program improvements.
Requirements
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in AI/ML, data science, machine learning engineering, technology risk, model risk, security risk, data risk, or responsible AI.
- At least 4 years of experience specifically focused on AI/ML risk, AI governance, model governance, model validation, or technical advisory for AI systems.
- Strong technical knowledge of AI/ML and generative AI systems, including aspects like model development, evaluation, data pipelines, and monitoring.
- Proven ability to assess technical AI risks and recommend practical controls in complex enterprise environments.
- Hands-on experience with generative AI platforms, open-source models, or related AI infrastructure.
- Experience collaborating with engineering, product, data science, legal, compliance, privacy, security, and risk teams.
- Solid understanding of privacy, security, data governance, and regulatory issues pertinent to AI systems.
- Exceptional communication skills, capable of conveying technical AI risks to senior stakeholders and translating governance expectations for technical teams.
