Team Overview

Within the B2B division, we provide innovative technology and distribution solutions to partners globally, including financial institutions, corporate managed travel, offline travel agents, and major travel suppliers. As a Software Development Engineer III, you will play a crucial role in building scalable, high-quality software solutions that support our global partner ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and delivery of complex systems and APIs utilized across the business unit.
• Manage Tier 1 or business-critical services, participate in on-call rotations, and respond to production incidents while using monitoring and alerting tools to ensure service reliability.
• Mentor junior engineers by providing technical guidance and leading code evolution through structured code reviews.
• Collaborate proactively with peers across the organization to identify cross-dependencies and engage in shared problem-solving.
• Design software that is clean, maintainable, modular, and optimized, applying software design principles, data structures, and design patterns.
• Test, debug, and resolve production issues within established service level agreements (SLAs), ensuring software consistently meets design requirements.
• Identify inefficiencies in code or system operations and propose actionable improvements.
• Contribute to a community of practice by sharing new skills and technical knowledge to enhance overall team effectiveness.
• Present findings on major operational or technical initiatives to broader stakeholder groups in both written and verbal formats.
• Utilize knowledge of software frameworks, databases, and database design principles to develop robust and effective data solutions.
• Facilitate collaboration among stakeholders with diverse perspectives to develop solutions and provide actionable recommendations.

Experience and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience, with at least 5 years of software development experience; or a Master’s degree in the same fields with at least 3 years of experience.
• Proficiency in at least three programming languages, with primary experience in Java/Kotlin or another JVM-based language.
• Experience with NoSQL databases, particularly DynamoDB.
• Experience operating Tier 1 or business-critical services, including participation in on-call rotations and handling production incidents.
• Experience maintaining and operating at least four software projects or products in production environments, including bug fixing, troubleshooting, and monitoring.
• Experience designing and building APIs for consumption across a business unit.
• Knowledge of software design principles, data structures, design patterns, and computer science fundamentals.
• Familiarity with testing and monitoring tools, with the ability to design software that is easily testable and observable.
• Ability to work collaboratively and autonomously across cross-functional teams.
