As a Principal Private Cloud Engineer, you will be responsible for defining and leading the technical strategy for a private cloud platform built on OpenStack. This platform is essential for delivering scalable and reliable infrastructure services to engineering teams, supporting large-scale workloads and aligning with the organization’s infrastructure strategy. Your work will focus on modern platform engineering principles, emphasizing automation, APIs, and enhancing the developer experience.

Responsibilities

  • Define and design the long-term architecture and strategy for a multi-tenant Private Cloud.
  • Lead the integration of OpenStack across compute, networking, and storage systems.
  • Develop standards for Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, APIs, and automation.
  • Drive improvements in reliability, scalability, and performance across all platform components.
  • Provide technical leadership in collaboration with various teams and domains.
  • Guide platform engineering practices, including CI/CD, telemetry, and observability.
  • Address complex challenges in distributed environments and high-performance computing.
  • Promote and facilitate the seamless adoption of the new platform.
  • Collaborate with Internal Developer Platform teams to ensure an excellent self-service experience.
  • Identify and mitigate workflow friction across multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Engage with the Open Source Software community to promote upstream feature adoption.

Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of the OpenStack ecosystem, Linux, and distributed systems.
  • Strong background in software engineering, particularly with Python, APIs, and systems design.
  • Significant experience with Ansible, Terraform, and infrastructure automation.
  • Experience managing large-scale or multi-region systems and operating at significant scale.
  • In-depth understanding of networking, storage, and Linux systems, both physical and software-defined.
  • Proven ability to influence technical direction across teams.
