An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Precision Machine Training Specialist to join a high-integrity engineering and manufacturing environment in Reading, Berkshire. This contract position is ideal for an experienced machining professional who is passionate about training and developing others in precision machining activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver hands-on training in milling and turning operations to machinists.
• Coach and mentor individuals on best practices in machining and safe working methods.
• Demonstrate leadership at the first-line level, addressing poor or unsafe behaviors.
• Support and promote a strong culture of health and safety within the workplace.
• Clearly communicate training requirements and tailor approaches to meet individual skill levels.
• Lead by example in a precision engineering environment.

Essential Experience and Skills

• A minimum of 2 to 3 years of competent machining experience, depending on individual capability.
• Strong proficiency with Shop Mill and Shop Turn, as well as manual milling and turning.
• A background in engineering or manufacturing is essential.
• Hands-on experience, including hand fitting, is required.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to teach and coach others.
• A strong focus on safety and compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS assessment.

Desirable Qualifications

• Experience in teaching, coaching, or mentoring.
• A formal teaching qualification.
• Experience using Siemens interfaces.
• Prior experience in public or private sector engineering or manufacturing environments.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Engineering or equivalent is required.
• NVQ Level 4 would be highly advantageous.
