The Imaging Department at Whipps Cross Hospital, part of Barts Health NHS Trust, is seeking a dedicated MRI/CT Clinical Specialist Radiographer to join their team. This role offers an exciting opportunity for career development as a Band 7 Radiographer, supporting one of the busiest A&E departments in the UK and a variety of specialties.

The successful candidate will work within a multi-disciplinary team, contributing to the safe and effective operation of the imaging department. Responsibilities include performing a wide range of CT and MRI examinations, participating in a 24/7 service, and supervising junior staff and students. The role also involves managing patient flow to ensure timely imaging services and maintaining high standards of patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the effective operation of the imaging department as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Perform a variety of CT and MRI examinations to a high standard, ensuring patient safety and care.
  • Participate in a 24/7 service delivery, including extended hours for MRI services.
  • Supervise and mentor band 5 and 6 radiographers, assistant practitioners, imaging assistants, students, and apprentices.
  • Deputize for the modality lead when required and exemplify professional behavior.
  • Manage patient flow to ensure timely imaging for emergency and in-patients.
  • Maintain high standards of patient care and experience, demonstrating professionalism and adherence to HCPC standards.
  • Foster positive relationships with colleagues characterized by trust and open communication.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Hold a BSc (Hons) in Diagnostic Radiography, DCR(D) Diploma of the College of Radiographers, or equivalent qualifications.
  • Possess current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to continuous professional development.
  • Have extensive experience as a radiographer with proficiency in CT and MRI.
  • Exhibit up-to-date knowledge of general imaging techniques and clinical governance.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively under pressure.
  • Experience in leadership and mentoring roles, including training staff and students.
  • Possess effective verbal and written communication skills.
