In this position, you will be responsible for leading the development and deployment of innovative applications that utilize Google’s generative AI models. Your focus will be on quickly developing new features and collaborating with partner teams to deliver impactful solutions for both Google and its customers. You will play a crucial role in translating AI research into real-world products, showcasing the capabilities of the latest generation of models. Your responsibilities will include building and shipping software, leading engineering teams, and ideally having experience in early-stage environments where you have contributed to scaling products from concept to production.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team in the design, development, and deployment of scalable generative AI applications while promoting industry best practices.
• Guide the team through the rapid development of new features, iterating based on evaluation results and mentoring team members to foster a collaborative and high-performing environment.
• Collaborate with researchers and product managers to convert research advancements into practical product features.
• Oversee the optimization of software performance and ensure the reliability of deployed applications.
• Direct the architecture and development of new products and features from initial concept to production.

Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 8 years of experience in software development, including system design, data structures, and algorithms.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience leading technical project strategy, machine learning design, and optimizing large-scale ML infrastructure.
• 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role, overseeing projects, and 5 years in a people management or team leadership capacity.
• Preferred: 5 years of experience in areas such as media generation, reinforcement learning, ML infrastructure, or other specialized ML fields.
• Experience with generative AI research or applications.
• Experience in evaluating model performance, analyzing results, and implementing improvements.
• Familiarity with machine learning frameworks and libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Hugging Face.
• Proven track record in developing and rapidly shipping software products.
• Contributions to open-source projects are a plus.
