Graduate Software Engineer Overview

Join BAE Systems as a Graduate Software Engineer and be part of a dynamic team dedicated to pioneering advancements in defense, aerospace, and security solutions. This role is based in Warton/Samlesbury, Lancashire, and offers a blend of hybrid and flexible working arrangements, with an expectation to be on-site 3-4 days a week.

The position comes with a competitive salary of £34,000 per annum, along with a £2,000 welcome bonus.

Role Overview

As a Graduate Software Engineer, you will be responsible for creating innovative software for our platforms, engaging in the complete lifecycle of a product from its initial concept through design, development, delivery, and maintenance. Your work will involve developing software solutions for complex, real-time systems, focusing on safety-critical and mission-critical software.

Core Responsibilities

• Evaluate and review system requirements, including both high-level and low-level software design.
• Implement software by updating existing code, developing new code, and merging updates into new baselines.
• Conduct software unit and integration testing, including white-box testing.
• Perform hardware/software qualification testing, also known as black-box testing.
• Manage software certification processes, including documentation, defect investigation, and resolution.

Qualification Requirements

To qualify for this role, candidates must have obtained, or be predicted to obtain, at least a 2:2 Bachelor’s degree or a pass at Master’s level in relevant subjects such as Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Software Development, Electronic Engineering, or a related field.

The anticipated start date for this position is July 5, 2027, and it is a permanent contract.
