This position offers an exciting opportunity to significantly impact the lives of individuals in Wales by enhancing access to specialized support and evidence-based treatments for those affected by gambling-related harm. The role of Consultant Clinical Psychologist Clinical Lead within the All Wales Gambling Service is a pivotal leadership position aimed at developing a new service dedicated to providing timely and compassionate psychological care.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and clinical leadership for the All Wales Gambling Service, ensuring effective planning and delivery of psychological services.
  • Oversee the recruitment and professional development of psychological staff, including psychologists, CBT therapists, assistant psychologists, and trainees.
  • Develop and implement evidence-based treatment pathways and protocols, delivering both group and individual psychological interventions.
  • Conduct specialist assessments and provide clinical advice to team members.
  • Engage with a variety of stakeholders, including experts by experience and multidisciplinary team (MDT) colleagues, to enhance service delivery.
  • Lead the development of psychological interventions and training for staff, ensuring high standards of care.
  • Participate in research and evaluation initiatives within the service.

Requirements

  • Possess a Good Honours degree in Psychology and eligibility for BPS Chartered status.
  • Hold current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Clinical Psychologist.
  • Have a Post-graduate Doctorate in Clinical Psychology or its equivalent, accredited by the BPS.
  • Complete clinical supervision training for supervising Doctoral trainees.
  • Attend formal management and leadership training programs.
  • Demonstrate advanced specialist knowledge in clinical psychology theory, psychological therapies, and assessment methodologies.
  • Show substantial experience in applying psychological knowledge, particularly in the context of gambling addiction and treatment.
  • Maintain evidence of Continuing Professional Development as required by HCPC.
