We are seeking a dedicated General Anaesthetist to join our established Anaesthetic Department as a Consultant. The Department of Anaesthesia, Critical Care and Pain provides anaesthetic services across three sites, maintaining Critical Care facilities at two locations and Chronic Pain Clinics at one. The successful candidate will join the on-call rota at Doncaster Royal Infirmary, working alongside a team of 42 Consultants, 20 SAS doctors, and 20 Trainees.

The role involves working across Doncaster, Bassetlaw, and Mexborough to deliver high-quality anaesthetic services. The appointee will be responsible for providing emergency anaesthetic cover and will participate in the on-call consultant rota, which currently operates on a 1:14 basis, with potential variations from 1:12 to 1:15. This on-call work attracts a 3% supplement.

Main Duties

  • Deliver anaesthetic services across three hospital sites.
  • Participate in the on-call consultant rota, covering general emergency theatre, obstetric theatres, and A&E.
  • Provide reciprocal cover for colleagues during their absences.
  • Engage in general anaesthetic duties as required.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Essential: MBBS/MBChB or equivalent recognized by the GMC.
  • Must hold a valid Licence to Practise and be on the specialist register for Anaesthetics or within six months of being admitted to the register if currently in a UK training program.
  • Demonstrated high level of clinical experience and competence in Anaesthesia.
  • Ability to provide expert clinical opinions and understand current issues within Anaesthesia and the NHS.
  • Experience in clinical teaching of postgraduate doctors and non-medical staff.
  • Knowledge of audit principles and evidence of participation in audit projects.
  • Ability to use IT systems including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
