This role is for a Biomedical Scientist within the Cellular Pathology department at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering efficient laboratory services in Histopathology and Non-gynaecological cytology, applying their expertise to conduct a wide range of biomedical investigations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform delegated tasks necessary for the efficient operation of the Histopathology and Non-gynaecological cytology laboratory services.
  • Apply specialized knowledge to conduct a variety of biomedical investigations.
  • Ensure compliance with NHS principles, providing high-quality care based on patient needs.
  • Contribute to the development of services that prioritize patient-centered care.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues to support patients and their families.
  • Participate in the training of junior staff and assist in their development.
  • Maintain high standards of quality control and safety within the laboratory.
  • Work across multiple hospital sites as required for service delivery.

Requirements

  • Must be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional education and training.
  • Possess effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work effectively under pressure.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of health and safety regulations and quality control systems.
  • Computer literacy and familiarity with healthcare IT systems.
  • Ability to work independently and make informed judgments regarding laboratory processes.

Benefits

  • Salary range of £32,073 to £39,043 per annum.
  • Full-time working hours of 7.5 hours per day, Monday to Friday.
