This role is for a Biomedical Scientist within the Cellular Pathology department at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering efficient laboratory services in Histopathology and Non-gynaecological cytology, applying their expertise to conduct a wide range of biomedical investigations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform delegated tasks necessary for the efficient operation of the Histopathology and Non-gynaecological cytology laboratory services.
- Apply specialized knowledge to conduct a variety of biomedical investigations.
- Ensure compliance with NHS principles, providing high-quality care based on patient needs.
- Contribute to the development of services that prioritize patient-centered care.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues to support patients and their families.
- Participate in the training of junior staff and assist in their development.
- Maintain high standards of quality control and safety within the laboratory.
- Work across multiple hospital sites as required for service delivery.
Requirements
- Must be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional education and training.
- Possess effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work effectively under pressure.
- Demonstrate knowledge of health and safety regulations and quality control systems.
- Computer literacy and familiarity with healthcare IT systems.
- Ability to work independently and make informed judgments regarding laboratory processes.

- Salary range of £32,073 to £39,043 per annum.
