Consultant Anaesthetist in Thoracic, Burns Cardiac Critical Care Overview

We are seeking a Consultant Anaesthetist with a focus on Thoracic Anaesthesia, Burns Anaesthesia, and Cardiac Critical Care to join our team at Morriston Hospital. This role will involve managing both elective and emergency anaesthesia cases, including a commitment to the cardiac intensive care unit (CICU) and post anaesthetic care unit (PACU). The successful candidate will be part of a team of 82 consultants delivering anaesthetic services across the Swansea Bay University Health Board.

Main Duties

• Provide emergency and elective general anaesthesia to patients within the SBUHB.
• Participate in the on-call hybrid General Rota at Morriston Hospital, which includes managing burns admissions and urgent burns surgeries during weekends.
• Engage in flexible in-year sessions to accommodate both personal specialist interests and departmental clinical needs, with scheduling agreed upon in advance.

Qualifications and Experience

• Registered with the GMC and licensed to practice.
• CCT in Anaesthesia or on the Specialist Register with GMC, or expected within six months of interview.
• Advanced Training Module in Thoracic Anaesthesia or equivalent experience.
• Fellow of Intensive Care Medicine (FICM) or equivalent qualification/experience.
• Experience in anaesthesia for burns patients.
