Commodities Analyst Overview

This role involves supporting the development of commodity supply-and-demand models that are essential for trading desks. The successful candidate will be responsible for building and refining analytical tools and processes, producing market analyses to inform trading strategies, and ensuring the quality of market and fundamental data.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the creation of supply-and-demand models for commodities that will be utilized by trading desks.
• Develop and enhance analytical tools and processes for the trading desk.
• Conduct market analysis to support trading strategies based on recent developments.
• Oversee and improve the quality of market and fundamental data.
• Manage and operate essential data processes that support trading desk activities.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 1 year of experience in the commodities sector.
• Possession of an advanced degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Econometrics, Applied Economics, or a related field.
• Experience in data research, analysis, and modeling, preferably gained through internships or relevant positions.
• Proficiency in Python programming is mandatory, and familiarity with Excel is advantageous.
• Demonstrated enthusiasm for investing and understanding trends in the commodities market.
• Strong writing skills with the ability to quickly organize and synthesize information.
• Willingness to engage in various projects and tasks as needed.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues across different teams and regions.
