The Band 7 Highly Specialized Echocardiographer position at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust offers an exciting opportunity for a skilled Specialist Cardiac Physiologist to enhance their clinical practice while contributing to a high-performing, patient-centered service. The successful candidate will work closely with service leads and under the guidance of the Lead Consultant in Imaging to ensure the delivery of a top-quality echocardiography service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform echocardiograms competently and report findings accurately.
  • Support the daily operations of the Cardiology service in collaboration with service leads.
  • Assist in coordinating and leading the echocardiography service, mentoring junior staff as needed.
  • Contribute to the training and development of multidisciplinary team members, facilitating both practical and theoretical learning experiences.
  • Participate in service development and quality improvement initiatives, including audits and research activities.
  • Support competency assessments and training within the echocardiography department.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Essential: Degree in Clinical Physiology or equivalent qualification (OTEC/ONC in MPPM).
  • Essential: British Society of Echocardiographers (BSE) accreditation or equivalent.
  • Essential: Meet the requirements of the RCCP voluntary register.
  • Essential: Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD) and attendance at relevant meetings.
  • Essential: Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to safeguarding protocols.
  • Desirable: In-depth knowledge of the specialty and a structured approach to continuing professional development.
  • Desirable: Understanding of current NHS issues, including government strategies.

Working Conditions and Benefits

  • Salary: £49,387 to £56,515 per year.
  • Contract Type: Permanent.
  • Working Pattern: Full-time with flexible working options.
