The 2027 Summer Analyst position in Global Investment Banking at Royal Bank of Canada offers an exciting opportunity for students in their penultimate or final year of university to gain valuable experience in a leading investment bank. This program is designed to provide participants with hands-on exposure to various aspects of investment banking, while also fostering professional development through mentorship and training.

Programme Overview

As a Summer Intern, you will be integrated into a key area of the Global Investment Banking division, where you will gain insights into the responsibilities of a full-time Analyst. Interns will work in product areas such as Equity Capital Markets (ECM) and Debt Capital Markets (DCM), across sectors including Healthcare, Utilities & Renewables, Industrials, and Consumer & Retail.

Key Responsibilities

• Engage in financial modeling and company valuation projects.
• Assist in financing transactions across various industries.
• Analyze transactions and provide insights to leadership.
• Conduct industry research and report findings to colleagues.
• Develop and edit pitch books and presentations for senior management.

Training and Development

Throughout the internship, you will receive support and development through various means, including:

• Classroom-based training that covers essential commercial and industry knowledge.
• A Speaker Series featuring regular information sessions from sector and product leaders.
• On-the-job training and a buddy program for guidance.
• Networking and shadowing opportunities to connect with professionals.
• Social events with the wider 2027 Capital Markets cohort.

Interns will also receive mid and end-of-summer reviews, along with constructive feedback from their managers to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the skills necessary for a successful career in investment banking.

Candidate Profile

We seek diverse candidates with exceptional academic records, strong analytical skills, and a demonstrated interest in finance. Successful applicants will have a history of extracurricular involvement, excellent communication abilities, proven leadership skills, and the initiative to thrive in a fast-paced work environment. While fluency in a second European language is not required, it is considered a plus.
