    ORA-00301: error in adding log file <name> – file cannot be created

    Reason for the Error

    You attempted to create a redo log file, but it failed. For example, when resizing or adding a logfile group, you may receive this error.

    Solution

    There are 3 options that you can look at to fix this error

    • Check to see if the device has enough storage space.
    • Check to see if the device is still available.
    • Verify that the file name is correct.
