We are seeking a dedicated Staff Hardware AI Engineer to join our innovative team in Cambridge. In this role, you will focus on developing AI-enabled automation tools that enhance the efficiency of Arm’s digital hardware design and verification engineers, ultimately improving project cycle times. You will leverage your extensive hardware engineering knowledge to collaborate with Architects and implement AI-driven tools and techniques that transform the daily operations of the engineering team.

The PE AI team is committed to enhancing engineering productivity through advanced technology. We collaborate across hardware and software projects to integrate AI into various workflows.
Responsibilities
- Engage in the hands-on development of AI-driven solutions aimed at automating Hardware Design and Verification processes.
- Create and refine solutions utilizing OpenAI Codex skills and integrate various tools such as simulation flows and log analysis.
- Work collaboratively with Arm’s Engineering teams to identify real-world engineering challenges and translate them into clear project requirements.
- Rapidly develop prototypes and assess EDA AI tools to determine their feasibility and measure their impact.
- Lead change initiatives by conducting demonstrations and workshops, creating onboarding materials, and addressing barriers to adoption.
Required Skills and Experience
- Proven hands-on experience with design or verification methodologies, including a deep understanding of RTL design and the interactions between RTL, testbench, and Verification IP.
- Familiarity with at least one major EDA vendor toolset, demonstrating domain knowledge in EDA tooling.
- Practical experience in applying AI for engineering automation, including prompt design and structured output generation.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to quickly diagnose issues in real-world environments and facilitate resolutions across teams.
- Excellent written communication skills, capable of converting vague discussions into precise requirements and actionable plans.
Nice To Have Skills and Experience
- Strong proficiency in at least one scripting language, preferably Python, for automation and tool integration.
- Experience in an Application Engineer or customer-facing role, translating user needs into effective solutions.
- Familiarity with agentic workflows and tool calling patterns.
What Success Looks Like in 6â12 Months
- Arm Hardware engineers will report significant time savings in workflows and improvements in product quality, supported by credible evidence.
- Prototypes will demonstrate clear value or quickly provide insights for further learning.
- Teams will adopt new tools efficiently, with increased usage as barriers to adoption are minimized.
Additional Information
Please note that no relocation package is available for this role. If skilled worker sponsorship is required, Arm will cover the employer’s costs associated with sponsorship, while the successful candidate will be responsible for their own visa application fees and Immigration Health Surcharge.
