Software Engineer Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Software Engineer to join a well-funded AI engineering organization in Cambridgeshire, England. This role involves working on a new AI framework designed for stringent control and compliance in highly regulated sectors such as financial services and healthcare. The framework is a critical component of a broader high-assurance program aimed at ensuring the safety of AI systems where accuracy, explainability, and accountability are essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain essential components of the AI framework using idiomatic Rust.
• Create secure execution environments and multi-model validation pipelines to prevent data leakage and ensure compliance with policies.
• Utilize large language models (LLMs), AI agents, and coding assistants extensively to write, test, and refactor code.
• Architect systems that safely integrate with foundational models, ensuring adherence to strict compliance and governance requirements.
• Review AI-generated code for security, performance, and correctness, while optimizing CI/CD processes for AI-assisted workflows.
• Translate compliance protocols into production-ready software.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in Rust programming, with strong systems programming and secure coding practices.
• High proficiency in using LLMs and AI agents for development, such as Cursor and Copilot.
• Familiarity with the challenges of enterprise AI deployment, including security, regulatory risks, and auditability.
• Strong debugging skills, focusing on optimizing for latency, safety, and scalability.
• Nice to have: experience in regulated industries (finance, banking, healthcare), knowledge of formal verification, applied cryptography, verifiable computing, and sandboxing technologies.
