A specialist marine civil and foundations contractor is seeking an autonomous Senior Project Engineer to lead site operations for port infrastructure, wharves, jetties, and piling projects valued at AUD $10M–$15M. The position offers full site ownership (approx. 80% on-site, 20% engineering/procurement), with between-project contributions to tenders and Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) phases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engineering & Quality: Produce and review method statements, temporary works, lift/piling plans, ITPs, quality records, and final as-builts.
  • HSE Leadership: Direct site safety, lead risk assessments, manage work permits, run toolbox talks, and maintain compliance with client HSE systems.
  • Technical Problem Solving: Autonomously resolve site issues (e.g., ground/tidal conditions, marine logistics, design clashes) without unnecessary escalation.
  • Commercial & Reporting: Manage weekly progress tracking, cost forecasting, variations/claims substantiation, and authority/client interfaces.
  • Tenders & ECI: Provide constructability reviews, methodology, quantities, and programme inputs during bid and pre-construction stages.

Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum 7 years of site-based construction experience, with 3+ years as a Project Engineer or Senior Project Engineer running packages/sites.
  • Track Record: Proven ownership of projects or packages valued at AUD $10M+ in marine infrastructure, special foundations/piling, or major civil contracting.
  • Mobility: Full willingness to work across Australia, accept FIFO rotations, and maintain sustained availability for Western Australia.
  • Compliance & Language: Clean HSE record, valid driver’s licence, medical fitness for remote site work, and fluent professional English (written and verbal).
  • Work Rights: Australian work rights or eligibility for employer-sponsored visa pathways (relocation support available for qualified international candidates).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience on Australian port/coastal works or with comparable marine contractors.
  • Background in temporary works design, dredging, geotechnical instrumentation, or marine plant operations.
  • Demonstrated tenure completing remote/FIFO assignments.

Remuneration & Benefits

  • Competitive annual salary package aligned with experience, plus superannuation and applicable site allowances.
  • Clear career development pathway toward Project Manager.
  • Dedicated recruitment and relocation/sponsorship support for international hires.
